Description

Alexander Cole's red & gold doublet in its final form.

10/2011 Update: If you're wondering why you don't recognize this image it's because it has been updated to reflect the finished doublet.

The doublet is approx. 90% hand sewn, and clocks in at around 115 hours of labor. Full costume with not-shown double-sided cape, canions, hose, slops, and hat clocks between 450-500 hours.

I was doing a cursory image search for doublets on google for inspiration and this image came up.  I've made one doublet myself about a year ago and I'm starting work on another one for a fantasy festival in Oregon in a few months.  I must say I'm floored by how beautiful it is.  I'm surely going to have to up my game... well as much as I can at least as sewing still is a new art form for me.  I won't bite off your design of course! Or anyone else's for that matter.

The fabric on this is absolutely beautiful.  Is the embroidery on the top portion actually part of the fabric itself or an applique if you don't mind my asking?
